Real-Life Communication

Golf pros communicate both in person and on paper. For example, many send out newsletters to their club members, informing them about upcoming events and changes that the club is going through.

Golf pros also teach golf lessons, either to groups or individuals. They must be able to communicate aspects of the sport to children, to adults with no knowledge of golf, and to others who have more experience.

"Club professionals require great communication skills for teaching because each student is different and each student hears and communicates differently," says former professional golfer Terry Zachary.

A club pro is also a part of a team that runs many functions at a club and must work well with others, especially in running larger club functions."

You're a golf pro, and you're teaching some basic golf skills to a group of children ranging in age from eight to 10.

Your first lesson deals with gripping a golf club correctly. How would you teach these children how to do this in a way they can understand?
