Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

Continue to train the dolphin on the back flip

You've been training a dolphin to do a back flip, but she's just not getting it. You're planning to quit for the day, but a co-worker tells you he doesn't think you should quit. He thinks that the dolphin will be better off if you continue to train her today.

You take his advice, even though you think the dolphin is tired and needs a break.

You keep trying, but in the end you are frustrated. The dolphin just isn't getting it. You spent extra time on a trick when you could have dedicated that time to other chores. Finally you decide to call it a day. You'll attempt the trick again in the morning, as your instincts told you to do in the first place.

"In animal training, there is no right way. One tool might not work. You have to decide how to progress and change levels," says dolphin trainer Michele Cossa.
