Hang-Gliding Instructor

Real-Life Activities

Real-Life Communication -- Solution

  1. What are two things a person must have or do before entering an instructor certification course?

Before training to become a hang-gliding instructor, a person must love the sport and have hundreds of hours of experience.

  2. Why do you think a Red Cross card is required to become an instructor?

Hang-gliding instructors put safety above all else. If an accident should occur, the instructor who is certified in first aid will be more prepared to handle the situation.

  3. Why do you think a written exam alone isn't enough to certify an instructor?

A written exam alone isn't enough because knowing something and actually applying what you know can be two different things.

  4. What presentations must an instructor "trainee" pass? Why?

Those in hang-gliding instructor training must pass flight demonstrations, ground school presentations and instruction presentations. This is a way for them to actually show what they know.
