The outlook is good for public speakers, says Terry Paulson of the National Speakers Association. "The competition is fierce, but the demand for good speakers is solid and growing, provided they are comfortable with working in front of a lens and can energize audiences online and live."

Demand is growing for public speakers who can inform and motivate people on diverse subjects.

"Over time, I've gotten better at marketing the seminar or workshop in such a way that I draw the kinds of people I'm looking for -- for that particular event. Using marketing skills to target the right group for your seminar makes a big difference," says speaker Jim Mulvaney.
