Real-Life Decision Making
You have just come back home from a series of wrestling events in another
city. It has been an extremely successful couple of months for you and you
are finding that your popularity and recognition are rising.
But for these next few weeks, you are simply looking forward to taking
it a little easy since you don't have any events planned. You are even looking
forward to your best friend's wedding on June 29 and his bachelor party on
June 22.
As you begin to unwind and relax, you receive a phone call from the wrestling
association that you work for. It seems that one of the wrestlers has been
seriously injured and they want you to fill his spot. This is a major event
and you will play one of the main roles in the plot. On top of that, this
event is going to be televised. They tell you that the event takes place
on June 22, the day of your best friend's bachelor party.
"This business is full of tough decisions," says Melissa Maughn. Maughn
is a professional wrestler who works for an independent association.
As Maughn says, "Whether you drive somewhere for hours [not knowing whether
you'll get paid]. Is that a chance you're willing to take? Do you miss that
wedding because you have to wrestle that weekend? Do you not see your boyfriend/girlfriend
on weekends because you're wrestling? I've faced all of these challenges and
more."
The person on the other end of the phone line is waiting for your response.
You need to tell him right away if you will do it or not.
What do you do?
