Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You sink the three ball and try to line up for the four ball.

You try the difficult shot. Good choice -- it shows you have confidence in your ability to make a tough shot when the pressure's on.

But pool players say one tried-and-true rule of pool is to never give your opponent an easy path to victory. What if you leave the cue just short of your goal, and allow your opponent to make an easy shot to win the championship?

Deciding on the best pattern to get from point A to point B on the pool table is key to winning a match, says competitive player Teri Norfolk. "It's [about] maneuvering your cue ball," she says, "learning how to get that cue ball to maneuver to your next shot, so you can get to where you can make that eight ball win that game. There is a pattern and you want to be able to make a good decision."
