Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You remain on the other side of the barricade.

This is the real-life decision that camera operator April Butler would make.

"If you get to a fire there are many quick decisions to be made," says Butler. "You have to decide where to shoot, [and] who to ask for permission."

Of course, you want to get the best pictures you can. However, a fire is an emergency situation. You don't want to put your life or other people's lives in danger by interfering with the emergency workers.

"You want to get as close as you can, and you have to make a decision about whether you are going to obey orders," says Butler. "Usually, you don't want to disobey orders right away, because you'll most likely get a chance to go in when it's safe."
