Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You take the booking

You decide to take the booking. After all, you need the business!

The next month the woman stays at your B and B. She pays by check. You notice that the address on the check is not in Springfield. She tells you that's because she hasn't ordered new checks from her bank yet.

A few days later, you discover that the woman's cheque has bounced. Now you regret not paying attention to your first instincts!

B and B owner Harriet Gould says you should pay attention to warning signs that you'll regret allowing a certain guest to stay with you.

At the very least, if your gut says something doesn't add up, you should ask more questions and maybe even do a Google search to see if there's any reason to be concerned. You can also insist on a deposit or being paid by cash or credit card rather than by check.
