Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell the woman you'll get back to her.

This is the decision Harriet Gould recommends. She recently had a similar experience when a woman e-mailed her about booking a room.

"I can't remember what she wrote, she kind of said she was from Lincoln, but something alerted us to the fact that it looked like she was from another part of the state," says Gould.

"Something just didn't feel right, so I Googled the name and found out she had been in court for writing bad checks."

As a B and B operator, you're not just running a business. You're also letting people into your home. So you need to use your best judgment and instincts to make sure you get customers you can trust.

"That was just intuitive," says Gould. "It just didn't feel right."
