Real-Life Decision Making

Let's face it. No matter how carefully you protect your professional reputation as a parapsychologist, there are always going to be some people who snicker at what you do. They are non-believers. Many parapsychologists say they simply ignore them when they do their work.

Parapsychologists, like all professionals, are only as good as their reputations. They have to decide carefully when to place their professional stamp of approval on something. You will be approached often by people who want your backing.

Someone who claims to have seen a UFO approaches you. You have dealt with people in the past who have said they were abducted by aliens, so this person has looked you up. He wants you to go with him on a television talk show and back up his claim that he, too, was abducted by aliens.

You conduct a brief interview with him. While the facts of his case seem similar to others, something about him leaves you uneasy. He is a little too eager to appear on television, you think to yourself. He says he needs to know right away whether you will work with him.

What do you do?
