Real-Life Communication

You have trained hard to attend the Olympics as a boxer. As the big day approaches, you learn you must send the officials a detailed letter of your accomplishments in order to be considered for the Olympic qualifying round.

Write the letter to the Olympic officials, including the fact that your trainer is Jack Miles, you have fought more than 30 fights since high school, and that you have won three state championships and two regional championships. Also include the two conference awards you won during your high school boxing career, and the fact that you have been boxing for eight years.

Be sure to pay attention to your grammar and punctuation, as the judges will be looking for an intelligent as well as talented boxer to invite to qualify. As boxer Rose Johnson notes, "Communication is important in any career. You must be able to sell yourself before you can expect someone else to accept what you are offering."
