Real-Life Communication

"Verbal communication skills is one of the most important aspects of the job," says parts specialist Allan Ho. "You are constantly dealing with customers and answering questions about their car needs."

Your store is having a sale and you are very busy. Customers are constantly going up to you and asking you questions. According to Ho, you will have to be polite and courteous even though you might be under pressure or the customers might be acting impatient or rude.

You will have to ease the customers' nerves and inform them at the same time. Use your communication skills to handle the following situation:

A customer is purchasing ignition wires for his car. You recommend the cheaper ones, but he wants the more expensive ones. You will have to convince him to buy the cheaper ones because they are as good for his car as the more expensive ones, but at a much lower cost.

What do you tell the customer?
