In the U.S., all pilots must be licensed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Crop sprayers must have additional training from the National Aerial Application Association. One course is self-regulating application and flight efficiency (SAFE), where the pilot's skills are evaluated under actual field conditions.
