Additional Information

Climatologist Dave Robinson says most climatologists have a PhD in subjects like atmospheric science, physics, mathematics, geography or computer science.

Delaware State University is the only university in the U.S. that offers a doctoral program in climatology.

Climatologists must have an interest in science and mathematics. They also require strong computer skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.

"And it's important to be able to do several things at once," says Robinson. "The climatologists I know are all involved in several projects simultaneously."
