Insider Info

Additional Information

There isn't a single route to become a homeopath. Since the profession isn't regulated in most parts of North America, almost anyone can hang out a shingle and claim to be a homeopath.

The Council on Homeopathic Education was formed in the early 1980s to ensure the quality of courses offered through licensed professionals.

Some schools require applicants to have at least a two-year university education for admittance. Several courses are available for licensed health-care professionals, and courses range from basic introductory classes to advanced training, which can take several years to complete.

The primary skill required to be successful at this career, other than knowledge of homeopathy, is excellent communication. You have to be able to listen with feeling and understanding. You must also ask questions and make decisions.
