Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell the mother you think there's a problem and you need to look into it a little further.

This is the real-life decision that Dr. Alma Littles would make. She is a family physician.

Littles felt there was an underlying problem with the woman's feet. She asked the mother a few questions, including what kinds of medication she was taking. As it turned out, she was taking nine different medications for various ailments.

After checking her blood pressure, Littles also found it was low. She says she ended up reducing the number of medications the mother was on to help increase her blood pressure. She also recommended seeing a podiatrist if she was interested in getting properly fitted shoes.

Dr. Alma Littles says making decisions is essential when you're a doctor. It's something that must be done with every patient, every time that patient sees you. Doctors need to decide what the problem is and the best way to treat it.

Sometimes, as in this case, they even need to decide the best way to handle a family dilemma.
