You are a federal investigative officer. You have just arrived on the scene. A couple that you want to arrest just left the scene of an armed robbery.

"Officers don't need to use math on a daily basis," says Lisette Miles, who works in national security. "But they have to use the skills for research and for various things when they are investigating."

A witness points down the highway, where the couple suspected of several armed robberies drove away.

"They weren't traveling that quickly," the witness says. "I think they were only going about 35 m.p.h."

The woman says that they left 30 minutes ago. How far away is the car now?

You get a call from another officer. She has just apprehended the couple 28 miles from where you are standing. Assuming that the witness was correct in saying that the car left 30 minutes ago, how fast was the car actually traveling?
