High school foreign language teachers teach classes, prepare lesson plans, assess students, grade papers and participate in an array of out-of-classroom activities.

They must speak the language fluently and have an understanding of the culture of the language as well. That is, if you teach Spanish, you must also understand Spanish culture.

Foreign language teachers participate in staff meetings, serve on committees and meet with parents. They must keep current in their field and participate in professional development activities.

High school foreign language teachers work in the public school system and for private schools and institutions.

People with many types of physical disabilities can teach.
