Insider Info

Additional Information

Although orthopedic technologists study a relatively short time to enter their profession, it's an intense course of study requiring a sharp mind and a dedicated spirit.

Students must pass a certification exam. Students may also get a two-year degree in applied science, although it is not necessary for this field. However, there are prerequisites for taking the exam, such as experience or some university studies.

Once you pass the exam, it doesn't stop there! "Once you get into this business, you're never going to stop learning. You must commit yourself to continuing education," says former orthopedic technologist Tom Byrne.
