Discharge Coordinator

Money & Outlook

Insider Info

Former discharge coordinator Robin Bisgaard does not know how many discharge coordinators there could be. It is difficult to estimate, given that many health-care workers do discharge planning tasks along with other responsibilities.

She says that in many workplaces, the discharge coordinator's role is being combined with other functions, such as case management.

Bisgaard says discharge coordinators earn $5,000 to $10,000 more than a bedside nurse.

"Here in the [San Francisco] Bay area, nurses are well paid. The discharge coordinators are probably earning $80,000 to $90,000," she says. The wages differ from region to region.

Earnings and employment information from the U.S. Department of Labor is not available for this field at this time.
