Real-Life Math -- Solution

You decide to give Sally enough to make it to the kennel, and just to sedate Sammy for now. How much do you give each out of the 3.5 cc's you have?

Full dose for a 100-pound [45-kg] dog:

100 pounds / 10-pound increments = 10
10 x 0.25 cc = 2.5 cc's for Sally

3.5 cc's - 2.5 cc's = 1 cc left for Sammy

"If I only had so many cc's on me, I'd probably give at least three-quarters of it to the dog with the compound fracture," says ACO Bunny Baldwin. "You don't want to waste it, and the dog with the internal injuries will probably expire before the dog with the broken leg."
