Real-Life Decision Making

You are a 9-1-1 dispatcher. It has been a quiet night, only three emergencies so far. Just then, as if to make up for lost time, you get six emergencies in the span of an hour. The last of these calls is from a man who was burned when his wife threw a pan full of hot bacon grease on his arms, chest, neck and head.

As he describes the incident in detail, there is high-pitched screeching in the background. The screeching is so loud that you find yourself barely able to hear the man.

"Naw, naw, naw," the man screams at you. "Don't worry 'bout that. That's just the wife. She's still flippin' out on me!"

You respond calmly. After repeating the order, "Sir, you must remain calm" about 10 times, the wife starts attacking the man. You hear the sounds of thrashing and cursing. Things take a more serious turn when the man yells, "She's got a knife!"

What do you do?
