Real-Life Communication -- Solution
Mr. Weston and Mr. and Mrs. Balducci,
I am writing to make
you aware of problems we've experienced recently with Jimmy on the bus
ride to and from school.
For the past week, he has refused to stay
seated on three out of the five days. He has been told by the two bus patrols,
as well as myself, that remaining seated is a rule of the bus and that it
is for his own safety. I had to stop the bus on both Tuesday and Wednesday
of this week when he simply would not comply.
He has talked back to
the patrols every day this week when he has been asked to keep his voice down.
He usually knows better, but has been yelling and singing quite loudly each
trip. When asked to keep it down, he has responded by getting louder. He talked
back to me twice, at which time he was asked to sit at the front of the bus.
As
you know, it is my job to ensure the students make it to school safe and sound
each day. This recent behavior is dangerous for everyone. I need to be able
to concentrate and hear properly to ensure a safe ride for the students.
Maybe
if you go over the safety rules of the bus with Jimmy -- and possibly all
of the students -- his behavior will return to normal. If this keeps up, I
will be forced to suspend Jimmy from the bus for three days.
If you
would like to arrange for me to come into the classrooms and give another
safety talk, I would be more than happy to do so.
Thank you for your
time.
