Additional Information

A love of horses is the single most important requirement for anyone considering a career in this field. You must also be confident around these big animals.

But experts say it wouldn't hurt to pursue post-secondary training in an equine program.

There are many equine-related programs at universities and colleges. Some trainers offer private schooling. Different programs have different strengths, so you should do some research before deciding where to go.

Consider visiting local horse farms to familiarize yourself with the work ranchers do. You might even be able to volunteer your time around a farm. Ranchers could always use the help.
