College Academic Advisor

Real-Life Activities

Real-Life Communication -- Solution

Here's an example of what you could write:

To: All teaching staff
From: J.M. Jones, Academic Advisor
Re: Student reminder of academic counseling availability

Although the student handbook mentions the role of the academic advisor, some students may have either glossed over this information or simply forgotten about the service.

Please remind students that they could save themselves much time and turmoil by making an appointment to see me before next term.

They may also benefit from knowing that I can help them with:

  • Declaration of majors and minors
  • Financial aid
  • Co-op placement
  • Course credit transfers (internal and external)
  • Issues or challenges affecting their decision to continue their education here

I'm in my office (Room 212 W) daily from 9 a.m. until noon.

Thank you for your help in ensuring our students get the most out of their experience here.

Sincerely,

Jack Jones
