Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You call a series of meetings with parents, students and teachers.

This is the real-life decision that Bruce Beairsto would make. He is an associate superintendent. "Implementing a curriculum isn't just sending out notices," says Beairsto. "There are many opposing viewpoints and it is an emotional issue for many. You must always allow for healthy dialog and interaction."

You enter into a year-long series of informational sessions, community meetings and workshops. It is costly and expensive. Many people attend these meetings and express their differing viewpoints.

People begin to understand that there is much good in the new curriculum. The protests decrease. In a year's time, you implement the curriculum successfully. A few people grumble, but nothing bad comes of it.

You are pleased and decide that the time and money was well spent.
