Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You take the offer from the computer company.

This is the real-life decision that Lisa Collins would make. "In this situation, the company took a lot of flack for hiring someone from the coffee industry," says Collins, an executive educator. "What does he know about computers?"

By going through six months of intensive training about computers, this CEO prepared to run the computer company. He used the same business strategies as he did at the coffee company, with great success.

"He learned the industry and was able to see what needed to be changed," says Collins. "A CEO has to be comfortable making big decisions and problem solving. That is a major part of their job."
