Real-Life Communication -- Solution

In auto racing, there are hand signals that people use to communicate between the driver and the team. In this case, you would simply hold a fire extinguisher out and point to the driver's car. If the driver sees this, he would "mirror" the hand signal by doing the same signal back to you -- minus the extinguisher. (The driver does this so that you know he saw your signal).

The driver would then pull over and get out of the car. The fire would be extinguished and, although the driver would not win the race, your good communication skills would have saved the day.
