(The National Average for all occupations is 1,757 openings)
Employment small occupation
This was a small occupation in the United States, employing 27,000 workers in 2021.
(The National average for all occupations is 142,207 workers)
Growth Slower than average growth
Although there is a strong demand for semiconductors in many products, automation at fabricating plants is expected to grow, meaning that plants will need fewer workers. Because during the manufacturing process semiconductors are highly sensitive to impurities, it is more effective to use robots to do many of the simple tasks that processors once did. In addition, the increasing complexity of chips, combined with their reduced size, makes it difficult for people to work on them.
