Real-Life Decision Making

As an architectural technician or technologist, if you make mistakes on the drawing board, you may put others in physical danger. Those who work in the design and construction industry may also become subjects of private and public ridicule, since their mistakes are highly visible.

You are an architectural technician. A client asks you to check out his construction site. You find that the foundation is leaking, since all the local water drains into the field of the construction site. You now have to come up with possible solutions to this problem.

You can install special (and expensive) tiles in the basement to keep it dry. The other option is to "raise" the foundation, and drain the area with special pumps. Keep the following point in mind: the owner of the home uses a wheelchair to get around. Raising the foundation may make it more difficult to install a wheelchair ramp, so you have to modify your plans.

What do you do?
