Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You use your own horse.

Even though he's sore, you decide to use Lightning for the three rodeos. During the second one, he severely sprains one of his legs.

The injury probably wouldn't have happened had he been well rested. Now, you have to get another horse to use while Lightning heals. It could be a long time before he's ready to compete again.

"I think if your horse is sore and you know they're sore, if you keep using them, it just escalates," says rodeo performer Todd Gallais. "It might be so serious that you may have to stop using them for good, or for quite a while, anyway."
