Real-Life Communication

You arrive at your office at the radio station. The following message from the station manager is on your desk.

"We just received these compact discs and tickets to tonight's concert to give away. Please do so within the first hour of getting in."

You see that you've got four CDs and four pairs of tickets to give away. You decide to give a CD and a pair of tickets to four different winners.

You'll play four different songs by the band in the first hour, with the winners being the first callers at the start of each song.

You need to write a brief description of the contest to be read on the air. The only problem is, you don't know much about the band. They're called Get Real.

From the band's website and from the CDs, you're able to glean the following information:

  • The new CD is called As Real As It Gets.
  • Tonight's concert is at the Big Time Arena.
  • This is Get Real's first album since drummer Joe Blow left last year.
  • The band has only three members now.
  • Rolling Stone magazine gave the album four stars.

Now you're ready to write the contest description. Be brief, use conversational language and make it interesting. You want the listeners to be excited about the chance to win!
