People who enter this career usually do so with a degree in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, business administration or sales. Four-year degrees are preferred, but you might pursue promotions with one of the shorter certificate programs available at some colleges.

Some colleges offer a specialization in radio and courses in promotion. Depending on the industry you plan to work in, you may need additional expertise, such as an engineering or science degree. A well-rounded education is helpful in any case.
