Real-Life Math -- Solution

You need to calculate Joshua's grade point average (GPA).

Average = (90 + 83 + 95 + 92 + 85 + 88) / 6 classes
Average = 88.8 percent, or 0.888

GPA = 0.888 x 4 (because grade point average is on a scale out of 4)
GPA = 3.55

Despite all of his achievements, Apps is worth a grade point average of 3.55. He did well, but not quite well enough to measure up to your school's high standards.

"Being able to utilize mathematics is very important in my tasks," says university registrar Larry Murdock. "More important is the ability to envision relationships, to see fractional representations and to predict demographic tendencies. Mathematics helps to train the mind."
