Additional Information

Telecine coloring is a skill most easily learned through hands-on training in short-term, intensive trade courses. However, most telecine colorists pursue undergraduate degrees in broadcasting, film or media studies or a related field.

Many North American colleges offer state-of-the-art film-to-video studios and labs that expose students to the tools being used in the industry today.

And the learning never stops. With technology rapidly changing the work, colorists must remain flexible and ready to learn how to use new workstations and new formats. Often, manufacturers of telecine workstations offer short-term courses for their products.
