Insider Info

Additional Information

Reflexology is a small and relatively new field in North America that is rapidly gaining recognition. There are private training courses offered in most cities.

Associations representing reflexologists recommend researching programs carefully before deciding on a course of study.

Contact reflexologists and inquire where they obtained their training and what they would recommend.

While in school, consider courses such as anatomy and business, since many reflexologists run their own practice.

There are several avenues you can pursue. Some colleges offer diploma programs in holistic medicine, massage or physical therapy. They cover a broad range of courses that may include reflexology.

Certification for reflexologists is available but not mandatory in all states. There are laws in certain states and cities that govern reflexologists. Talk to a professional in your area for more information. However, certifying your skills will add more credibility to your practice and increase your chances of employment.
