Real-Life Math

As the author or editor of a dictionary, a lexicographer deals mainly with words. But even these professionals can't escape math on the job.

You are a lexicographer. You have been hired to create a unique type of dictionary: a dictionary of computer-related words. The publisher asked you to keep the dictionary to under 150 pages so that it can be printed in paperback form.

After scouring trade publications, the Internet and other sources, you have come up with 2,350 words to include in the dictionary. But will they all fit?

You know that the average entry is 45 words long. You also know that each line of type in the book can hold 9 words and that each page has 24 lines of type on it.

Will all these words fit in your dictionary? If not, how many extra words do you have?
