If you want to focus specifically on the technical side of computer graphics, such as render wrangling, then computer science courses are essential. If you're not sure which specific area of computer graphics you want to get into, be sure to take both art and computer science courses.

Also, familiarize yourself with animation software. "There are a wide variety of software packages out there," says Jason Maurer. He's the director of animation for a studio. "You have to understand at least the basics."
