Insider Info

Additional Information

To prepare for a career in dance therapy, it's best to start as early as possible. Movement therapist Monique Haziza recommends studying the way you move your body around.

"Kinesiology and those types of sciences are a good idea," she says. "Also anatomy -- you have to know what is connected where, and any other extracurricular activities you can pack in like dance, fitness and movement classes."

The regular path to a career in dance therapy is a love of dance and a background in dance and movement. It is recommended that you complete a master's degree in dance and movement therapy.
