Insider Info

Additional Information

There is no degree specifically in sponsorship. However, any of the following fields of study can apply: business administration, marketing, public relations, journalism or communication.

Gina Parker is a sponsorship coordinator for a PBS station in Houston. She suggests students who are interested in this field become good writers and learn how to communicate effectively with the public.

"Get an internship at a PBS station or a newspaper. An internship is the most valuable thing a student can do, but they have to work for free," she says.

"If they have a background in event management, along with a sales and marketing degree, that's what we consider a perfect educational background for this job," says Erick Long. He is a regional tour manager for a nonprofit educational organization..
