Real-Life Communication -- Solution
Several approaches would work, but they must all have two things
in common: they must be clear and concise.
A good approach might include
breaking the construction down into steps. For instance:
Step 1
-- Create a template by drawing a large circle on newspaper. Draw three straight
lines through the center of the circle, dividing it into six equal pie wedges.
Connect the points to create a hexagon and cut out the template.
Step
2 -- Cut a garbage bag in half, trace the template on the bag and cut
out the chute. Place a ring reinforcement sticker on each of the six corners.
Step
3 -- Use a needle to thread kite cord through each reinforcement, then
tie. Lift all six cords above the middle of the parachute and tie them together
a fair distance away from the chute. Tie on a snap swivel and trim any excess
cord.
Step 4 -- Cut the pop bottle in half and cut a series
of slits in the edge of the bottom half. Press the two halves together. Poke
a hole in the bottle cap with a push pin and screw in a screw eye.
Step
5 -- Attach the chute part and the bottle together using the snap swivel.
Voila! Happy flying!
