Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You take Kevin to a phone.

You lead Kevin to a chair outside your office and ask him to wait outside for five minutes. You close your office door and call his mom.

You tell her Kevin is unhappy and wants to go home, but homesickness is a common problem and you think he'll feel better soon. She's very concerned and asks to speak to her son. You call Kevin into the office and he breaks down as soon as he hears his mom's voice. "Mom, I hate it here," he says. "Will you come get me?"

As Kevin hands the phone back to you, he's in a great mood. "Mom's taking me home tomorrow!" he says excitedly. Kevin's mom thanks you for bringing the homesickness to her attention. "I'm glad you told me about this," she says. "I hate to hear my son so upset."

After hanging up the phone, you shake your head. You hoped Kevin's mom would make him feel better, but you didn't want him to leave camp.
