Additional Information

"Ski instructors have to log a lot of time on the slopes before they can begin to show other people how to do this," says instructor Deborah Ehrenreich.

Excellent communication skills and people skills are an important part of doing this work.

"It's really important to have some experience communicating with the public, whether through a restaurant job or volunteer work in an active community organization," says ski instructor Martin Davies.

There is no formal schooling required to be a ski instructor, but certification is highly recommended. The Professional Ski Instructors of America offers four levels of certification -- registered, certified level I, certified level II, and certified level III.
