2023 Cryptography Academy

The University of Tulsa's Cryptography Academy is a residential
summer program designed for the curious, puzzle-loving incoming 8th
or 9th grader who wants to solve challenges using technology,
mathematics, and critical-thinking skills. Students will solve
engineering challenges - through puzzles, cryptography, and
technology - using strategies and skills taught by university
faculty and secondary teachers through hands-on activities.
Additionally, students will participate in field trips and will
design their own set of challenges and puzzles. The final project
will allow students to create an escape room for others to
solve.

Camp Biomed: A Glowing Overview

What happens when you cross a jellyfish with bacteria? Find out at
Camp Biomed, a STEM Summer Academy held at Northeastern State
University Broken Arrow from June 12th to 16th, 2023! Participants
will create glowing bacteria after they isolate, amplify, and
introduce jellyfish DNA into bacteria. They will learn about
Microbiology and Molecular Biology and how they can overlap. We
will also tour a molecular research lab to learn about the latest
science investigations. This STEM Summer Academy is open to
students entering 8th through 10th grade.

Earth Cycles: The Geology of Carbon, Water, and
Life

The Earth Cycles residential academy will provide rising 8th, 9th,
and 10th graders a rich, hands-on experience in learning how
geologic processes including the rock cycle, water cycle, and
carbon cycle impact our Earth and our society. We will also study
past life through fossils to learn how these cycles have altered
Earth in the past. Finally, we will look at environmental problems
and how these natural cycles of air, water and carbon are changing
in recent times. During the week, students will be exposed to
various STEAM fields to show students future meaningful careers
across a range of environmental and geological sciences.

Emerging & Converging Technologies Summer
Academy

Students will apply math and science skills while participating in
hands-on lab exercises in at least seven programs offered at OSUIT.
Participants will have the opportunity to go "on the job" with
programs such as Culinary Arts, Engineering Technologies, Creative
Technologies, and Nursing and work alongside students and student
interns. In addition, students will experience college life in the
dorms. Students will participate in many fun-filled evening
activities and an industry tour and investigate the undeniable
claim that a college degree will take students where they want to
go.

ECU's Explorations in Computer Science & Robotics summer
academy is a one-week residential experience that will engage fifty
participants in the exciting imagination-stretching, logic-building
and fun world of computer science and robotics. Students will learn
programming in C, explore the endless possibilities of computer
science careers, interact with professionals, experience the
college atmosphere, and invoke their creativity and problem-solving
skills in a variety of ways including designing, building and
programming fully autonomous robots and learn about e-sports.

Working in teams, you will learn about water quality through
collecting data, analyzing the health of water bodies and
determining possible solutions to water quality problems. This STEM
Summer Academy program is funded by the Oklahoma State Regents for
Higher Education and is open to students entering the 8th through
the 10th grades. Come to Northeastern State University in Broken

Making an Online Shopping Cart and Database
Rose State College

The 2023 Summer Academy at Rose State College is designed to
foster interest in the Database Administration profession through a
variety of structured learning and enrichment activities that will
teach students how to make a shopping cart to support an online
retail site. The Academy will take place over five consecutive days
in June from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. By the end of the week, students will
be able to describe basic concepts of a database system and manage
a successful project from initial description, through design,
creation, and implementation.

Mapping Water Stories

East Central University (ECU) in Ada, Oklahoma is excited to offer
Mapping Water Stories, a five-day 24-hour supervised residential
summer academy for 35 Oklahoma students (grades 8-12), June 5-June
9, 2023. This summer academy provides hands-on learning
opportunities about water from scientific, environmental, and other
cultural perspectives. Students will visit local lakes and streams
to collect water data and learn how to create a Geographic
Information System (GIS) map in the ECU GIS computer lab. All meals
will be provided. Gas cards will be provided for transportation
expenses to/from ECU.

A Hands-On Program in Mathematics and Science. This Academy is a
program providing opportunities for developing skills to learn
mathematics, science and engineering. Mathematical activities
include code breaking cryptology and fractal pattern recognition.
Science experiences include field trips, real-world technologies,
robotics, rocketry and laboratory work where students seek to
understand the natural world. The use of problem-solving ideas and

PI-STEM Academy

The PI-STEM Academy will engage incoming 8th-9th graders in
exploring and solving problems related to water rocket and balloon
launching, paper plane design, drone programming, and more.
Every participant will receive a TI-84CE calculator and a
t-shirt. From June 5-9, this day camp will be held on
Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Durant campus from
9am-5pm, with extended drop-off and pick-up hours available.

Soaring into Summer

underlying a variety of aerospace applications. Students attending
the academy will dive deep into technical discovery projects in the
areas of aviation, aerospace, flight, coding, and drones.
Additionally, students will get to meet and visit with individuals
that are currently working in the aerospace industry and have the
opportunity to explore potential career paths.

Where Does Our Food Come From and How Does It Get There?

"Where does our food come from and how did it get there?" is a
five-day residential camp, held either June 26-30 OR July 10-14.
Campers will follow the progress of food from the garden to the
kitchen to the pantry (or our tummies), learning fundamental
cooking and canning techniques as well as the science behind the
how and why of these techniques. Campers will tour local farmer's
markets and farms to collect for meals and processing. It is an
invaluable experience to explore college-life, working in a college
lab, and then taking home the "spoils" of the camp to share with
family.
