2023 Cryptography Academy

The University of Tulsa's Cryptography Academy is a residential
summer program designed for the curious, puzzle loving incoming 8th
or 9th grader who wants to solve challenges using technology,
mathematics, and critical-thinking skills. Students will solve
engineering challenges - through puzzles, cryptography, and
technology - using strategies and skills taught by university
faculty and secondary teachers through hands-on activities.
Additionally, students will participate in field trips and will
design their own set of challenges and puzzles. The final project
will allow students to create an escape room for others to
solve.

2023 ESTEEM Builder for Emerging Careers: A High School
Summer Academy

This cost-free, five-day commuter program aims to broaden
participation in Environmental Sustainability, Science, Technology,
Engineering, Eco-social science, and Mathematics. High school
students will research college resources, explore emerging careers
(e.g., analytics, bioinformatics, data science, and forensics), and
visit sites at the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, Fusion Center,
and Edmond Police. STEM Professionals will job shadow, share
internship opportunities, and demonstrate how analytics can be used
to solve modern-day crimes and environmental issues. Students
will be engaged with hands-on activities to use cutting-edge
technologies (e.g., AI, blockchain, ChatGPT, machine learning, and
metaverse) to perform fun and stimulating activities (e.g.,
processing a crime scene, performing forensic experiments,
conducting virtual interviews with witnesses and prime suspects via
avatars, and solving modern-day crimes or address global-society
issues (e.g., climate change).

Camp Biomed: A Glowing Overview

What happens when you cross a jellyfish with bacteria? Find out at
Camp Biomed, a STEM Summer Academy held at Northeastern State
University Broken Arrow from June 12th to 16th, 2023! Participants
will create glowing bacteria after they isolate, amplify, and
introduce jellyfish DNA into bacteria. They will learn about
Microbiology and Molecular Biology and how they can overlap. We
will also tour a molecular research lab to learn about the latest
science investigations. This STEM Summer Academy is open to
students entering 8th through 10th grade.

Design in Action: Creativity, Innovation and
Sustainability Shaping the Built Environment

This academy offers thirty rising 9th and 10th grade students a
one-week opportunity to explore the interdisciplinary study of the
built environment disciplines of Architecture, Interior Design and
Construction Science at The University of Oklahoma's College of
Architecture. Students will be introduced to the design
process, architectural drawings and models and will visit various
sites to gain a broader understanding of the built environment.
Program participants will live in university residence halls to
experience real college life. Students from various
disciplines within the College of Architecture will assist the
academy students to facilitate collaborative interaction.

Earth Cycles: The Geology of Carbon, Water, and Life

The Earth Cycles residential academy will provide rising 8th, 9th,
and 10th graders a rich, hands-on experience in learning how
geologic processes including the rock cycle, water cycle, and
carbon cycle impact our Earth and our society. We will also study
past life through fossils to learn how these cycles have altered
Earth in the past. Finally, we will look at environmental problems
and how these natural cycles of air, water and carbon are changing
in recent times. During the week, students will be exposed to
various STEAM fields to show students future meaningful careers
across a range of environmental and geological sciences.

Emerging & Converging Technologies Summer
Academy

Students will apply math and science skills while participating in
hands-on lab exercises in at least seven programs offered at OSUIT.
Participants will have the opportunity to go "on the job" with
programs such as Culinary Arts, Engineering Technologies, Creative
Technologies, and Nursing and work alongside students and student
interns. In addition, students will experience college life in the
dorms. Students will participate in many fun-filled evening
activities and an industry tour and investigate the undeniable
claim that a college degree will take students where they want to
go.

academy is a one-week residential experience that will engage fifty
participants in the exciting imagination-stretching, logic-building
and fun world of computer science and robotics. Students will learn

college atmosphere, and invoke their creativity and problem-solving

Making an Online Shopping Cart and Database

The 2023 Summer Academy at Rose State College is designed to
foster interest in the Database Administration profession through a
variety of structured learning and enrichment activities that will
teach students how to make a shopping cart to support an online
retail site. The Academy will take place over five consecutive days
in June from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. By the end of the week, students will
be able to describe basic concepts of a database system and manage
a successful project from initial description, through design,
creation, and implementation.

Mapping Water Stories

East Central University (ECU) in Ada, Oklahoma is excited to offer
Mapping Water Stories, a five-day 24-hour supervised residential
summer academy for 35 Oklahoma students (grades 8-12), June 5-June
9, 2023. This summer academy provides hands-on learning
opportunities about water from scientific, environmental, and other
cultural perspectives. Students will visit local lakes and streams
to collect water data and learn how to create a Geographic
Information System (GIS) map in the ECU GIS computer lab. All meals
will be provided. Gas cards will be provided for transportation
expenses to/from ECU.

NanoExplorers: A High School Summer STEM Academy

NanoExplorers: A High School Summer STEM Academy, a ten day
residential STEM academy at Cameron University will be scheduled
for June, 18-23 and 25-30, 2023. The academy will feature
participation by 24 high school students who will be highly
motivated and talented high school students who reside in Oklahoma.
Students will engage in hands-on activities in imaging and
manipulating nanostructures, both 'top down' and 'bottom up'
approaches to making nanostructures, and devices based on
nanotechnology. The activities will be designed to introduce the
concept of nanotechnology and will include applications in both
chemistry and physics as well as information about career
opportunities related to nanotechnology. Take a two-week vacation
at Cameron University, learn about nanotechnology, STEM Career,
some basic chemistry and physics. Have a good time as you design a
superconductor train and experience a ride on the fastest roller
coaster at Frontier City and check out the Olympic-size swimming
pool in the fitness center in the evenings.

The Oklahoma Mesonet - Meteorology Academy

Are you fascinated by clouds? Have a fear of thunderstorms? Come
spend a week at the University of Oklahoma in Norman immersed in
the all-star weather community at the Oklahoma Mesonet -
Meteorology Academy. This academy offers a one-week residential
program for students entering 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. Learn
about atmospheric interactions from fronts to thunderstorm
development, how data is collected, and how to analyze weather
maps. Explore meteorology careers through interactions with
operational forecasters from NOAA's National Weather Service
offices, field researchers, television broadcasters, and the
emergency management community. Thirty students will be
accepted.

Seminole State College holds the Peek Into Engineering Residential
Summer Academy, beginning July 23rd ending July 28th, which targets
rising 9th through 12th grade students. Teams of students will
design and assemble underwater remote-operated vehicles.
Participants will also be exposed to simple electronic circuitry,
buoyancy, basic electromagnetic theory, and Newton's three laws of
motion. Planned activities will expose participants to aerospace,
electrical, material, mechanical, and bio-engineering fields. A
field trip will be taken to either OU or OSU.

PI-STEM Academy

exploring and solving problems related to water rocket and balloon
launching, paper plane design, drone programming, and more.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Durant campus from
9am-5pm, with extended drop-off and pick-up hours available.

Tulsa Community College Summer STEM Academy

Life is a rollercoaster! This academy is a 6-day, 5-night
residential experience that provides students with hands-on
experience in theories for designing and constructing
rollercoasters. Students collect data for analysis; calculate
forces on a rider, including work and power necessary to move cars;
calculate centripetal acceleration and forces; use conservation of
energy to approximate velocities and altitudes; and rotational
motion equations to determine linear speed. Students will design,
build, and test rollercoasters using these concepts, including
computer simulations, 3D printing, and hand tools, with final
presentations including a social media STEM Challenge. The camp
culminates in a day at Frontier City, riding rollercoasters.

Where Does Our Food Come From and How Does It Get There?

"Where does our food come from and how did it get there?" is a
five-day residential camp, held either June 26-30 OR July 10-14.
Campers will follow the progress of food from the garden to the
kitchen to the pantry (or our tummies), learning fundamental
cooking and canning techniques as well as the science behind the
how and why of these techniques. Campers will tour local farmer's
markets and farms to collect for meals and processing. It is
an invaluable experience to explore college-life, working in a
college lab, and then taking home the "spoils" of the camp to share
with family.
