You are a traffic engineer working for a private engineering firm. You are working on a project to put some new traffic lights at various intersections in your city. One of the traffic lights will have a signal for pedestrians indicating that it is their turn to cross the street. When pedestrians are supposed to walk, a sign comes on showing an image of a person walking. Then the sign goes off, indicating that pedestrians are not to cross.

Your job is to calculate how long the pedestrian sign should stay on. The walkway is 82 feet long. Statistics show that the average walking speed in North America is 4 feet per second.

How long should the light stay on?
